| The Pazo is situated in the oak grove in the south of Santiago
de Compostela. Its origin dates back to the 13th century, when a hermitage in
honour of Saint Lawrence was built. The Pazo was inhabited by distinguished
visitants and also was the temporary residence of Carlos V. The main building
is barroque, and has gallery on the first floor from which we can see the
magnificient garden of the cloister. The box hedges date from the 18th century
(1777) and have a symbolic meaning: religious symbols, coat of arms… Their
important oak grove, is included in the Galician Monumental Tree Catalogue. The
oldest camellias belong to the 19th century, together with other ornamentals
growing in the garden. |

| El Pazo
está situado en la carballeira de San Lourenzo en el sur de la ciudad de
Santiago de Compostela. Su origen se remonta al siglo XIII, cuando se
construyó una ermita en honor de San Lourenzo. Acogió a
visitantes ilustres y fue residencia temporal de Carlos V. El edificio
principal es de estilo barroco, con una galería en la primera planta
desde donde se observa el impresionante jardín claustral. Sus setos se
remontan al siglo XVIII (1777) y poseen un significado simbólico:
símbolos religiosos, escudo de armas....Destaca su importante
"carballeira", formación incluida en el Catálogo de
Árboles Monumentales de Galicia. Las camelias más antiguas
pertenecen al siglo XIX, junto con otras plantas ornamentales del
jardín. |
